Exhibitions

  • Blood on Paper

Elena Ochoa was the co-curator with Rowan Watson, chief curator of the Victoria & Albert Museum, for the “Blood on Paper” exhibition in 2008. Ivorypress and Art Commissioners worked as consultants headed by the Managing Director of Ivorypress, Antonio Sanz. This charted the history of the artists books from the early twentieth century to the present. It included seminal works by established figures from the past, as well as radical new works by contemporary artists. It proved to be an extraordinarily popular show with more than 110,000 visitors in two months.

  • C on Cities

The Director of the 10th Venice Biennale of Architecture, Ricky Burdett, asked Elena Ochoa to create a major exhibition on cities in the main space of the Principal Hall, the Italian Pavilion. With the Ivorypress team, she assembled works by more than fifty photographers on the subject of the city, as well as videos on the same theme. Art Commissioners produced a short film “The First Look”.

Artists

  • Richard Long

Art Commissioners interviewed several contemporary artists to create a major work at the entrance hall of the New York headquarters of the Hearst Corporation. Out of this process, Richard Long was selected for the commission. Using mud from the Hudson and Avon Rivers, he created an epic work, measuring 21 metres [70 feet] high by 12 metres [40 feet] wide. The work is called Riverlines.

  • Cai Guo-Qiang

Art Commissioners solicited proposals from artists for an installation on the Chairman’s and Executive Level at the Hearst Corporation’s new tower in Manhattan, New York. The result is a major work by Cai Guo-Qiang spanning two floors of gunpowder on paper, mounted on wood, measuring 10.6 metres [35 feet] wide by 6.7 metres [22 feet] high.

  • Anish Kapoor

Art Commissioners has been the art adviser for Risanamento SPA Milano, Italy. One of the commissions was a major work by British sculptor Anish Kapoor. The work is 9m high and it will be placed in the near future in the headquarters of a company outsider Milan.
